Katy Elmaliah

Katy Elmaliah is a senior associate at GKL.
Katy specializes in a variety of local and international matters of commercial and civil nature connecting Israel and Germany as well as the French speaking parts of Europe, i.e. Switzerland, Germany, Lichtenstein, Austria, Luxembourg and France. Katy was born in Prague, Czechoslovakia and received her J.D. from The University of Zurich in 1993. She was admitted as an attorney to the Swiss Bar Association in 1995 (she is currently a passive member) after completing her articles with two major commercial law firms there - Lenz & Staehelin and Froriep Renggli (where she later served as an associate). In 1996 Katy emigrated from Switzerland to Israel and was admitted to the Israel Bar Association in 1999. During her entire professional carrier Katty has been heavily engaged in German, Swiss and Israeli Commercial and Contract Law as well as in international commercial litigation and arbitration. She possesses wide experience in a variety of Commercial Law issues, such as negotiating and drafting of commercial agreements, Corporate Law, transnational litigation and enforcements of debt (including the enforcement of foreign court decisions) and Banking Law. Katy also possesses in-depth expertise in Civil Law issues such as Inheritance matters, Real Estate transactions, the enforcement of foreign judgments in Israel as well as in Europe and the obtainment of German, Austrian and Swiss citizenship. Katy served as a research assistant for Contract and Private International Law in The University of Zurich (1989-1991). For her doctoral thesis on international media law she was awarded a grant by the Swiss Fund for the Support of Scientific Research and the French National Fund for Scientific Research. Katy also tutored at various professional organizations in Switzerland and later in Israel. Katy is a member of STEP (Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners), The German Israeli Chamber of Commerce and The International Association of Jewish Lawyers and Jurists. Katy is fluent in German, Hebrew, English, French, Italian, Spanish and Czech.
